Ingredients
2 lbs 0.91 kg Ground Lamb
Salt, Pepper, and Garlic Powder to taste
1 1 bunch of fresh rosemary leaves, finely chopped
1 1 bunch of fresh mint leaves, minced
8 8 Pita bread or Naan (for serving)
1 cup 150 g Crumbled Feta cheese (for topping)
Directions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well to distribute the seasonings evenly throughout the meat.
- Add the finely chopped rosemary leaves and minced mint leaves to the lamb mixture. These aromatic herbs will infuse the burgers with delightful Mediterranean flavors. Gently incorporate the herbs into the meat mixture, being careful not to overwork it as it will result in tougher burgers.
- Divide the lamb mixture into eight equal portions and shape them into 4 oz patties. This size is ideal for burgers, ensuring they cook evenly and remain juicy.
- Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush the grates with a bit of oil to prevent sticking.
- Place the lamb patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for medium doneness. Adjust the cooking time based on your desired level of doneness.
- While the burgers cook, lightly toast the pita bread or Naan on the grill or in a separate skillet for a warm and slightly crispy texture.
- Once the burgers are done, remove from the grill and allow them to rest for a few minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more flavorful bite.
- Assemble your Greek-style burgers by spreading the Dill Yogurt Based Sauce, placing a patty on each piece of toasted bread. Sprinkle a generous amount of crumbled Feta cheese on top, allowing it to melt slightly from the residual heat of the burgers.
- Serve your Greek-inspired burgers with a side of fresh Dill Yogurt sauce, a crisp salad, or even Fries for a complete and satisfying meal.
Notes
- When it comes to enjoying your Greek-style lamb burgers, there’s more than one way to savor the delicious flavors. I’ve included pictures of two serving options to inspire your creativity in presenting these delectable patties. Whether you prefer the classic burger style with an open pita bread or a stacked version, the choice is yours.
- If you want a milder alternative to the traditional all-lamb burgers, you can try blending ground lamb with ground beef. In this way you can create a harmonious combination that still captures the essence of Greek-style burgers. This 50/50 blend allows you to enjoy the best of both worlds and is perfect for those who want a subtler lamb taste.
