Prepared shrimp tacos with sauce, pico de gallo, red cabbage and cilantro

Easy and Delicious Shrimp Tacos

4.6 from 8 votes

The best shrimp tacos I’ve ever had were in Mexico at a no name place overlooking the beach in Ciudad del Carmen, in the state of Campeche (not to be confused with Playa del Carmen). I haven’t really tried to recreate those tacos as I think it would almost be impossible, as somehow the food is always tastes a little different when taken out of its context, and I’d rather just keep that memory. This is my recipe for shrimp tacos that I usually cook together with battered fish tacos when I have people over as they are very easy to make.

I try to have the shrimp be the protagonist here. I favor large fresh raw shrimp, or at least raw frozen ones as the precooked ones tend to be a bit flavorless in my opinion.

For the adobo I mix onion powder, oregano, smoked paprika, salt, garlic powder, pepper, and cayenne or chipotle powder. I mix them all together, and sprinkle well on all the shrimp that I cook on the griddle 3 minutes on each side, it’s as easy as that!

I serve the tacos with corn tortillas, red cabbage, Pineapple pico de gallo and a bit of Chipotle Sauce
